Mar 2009 - NOTICE

In order to ensure that Traditional Chinese Acupuncturists can more efficiently and safely provide their services to the community, the Ontario Chinese Acupuncture Examination Committee will conduct a Practical Examination for all practitioners who passed the written examination in previous years.  On April 18th, 2009 there is a free training before the examination; the examination will be holding on May 17th, the address of the training and examination is in 31 Glens Watford drive, Scarborough, ON. MIS, 2B7. Please register for the examination before April 10th, 2009.  Examination schedule can be found on "Certification" page.

Also, the Ontario Acupuncture Examination Committee (OAEC) is receiving applications for invigilators who have the following qualifications:

1.       Applicant must have passed the written examination of TCA.

2.       Applicant must be a graduate from an accredited TCM school or a qualified acupuncturist of another           country and have been in practice for over 15 years.

3.       Applicant must be a Canadian permanent resident or Canadian citizen.

4.       Applicant must have a good conduct with no criminal record and not involved with any medical              incidents or complaints form patients.

Anyone who has the above qualifications can submit his/her resume to 3195 Sheppard Ave, East 2nd Floor, Scarborough, ON, M1T 3K1.  OAEC will arrange for interview as appropriate. 

The OAEC Written Acupuncture Examination will be conducted on May 23rd, 2009 at University of Toronto.  Please contact OAEC for details at 416-493-8447.

Jul 6, 2007 - OAEC officially announced the Ontario Acupuncture Examination will take place at the University of Toronto Examination Center on September 8, 2007.  News detail can be found from Sing Tao Daily newspaper , Today Daily News and Ming Pao (Toronto).

Jun 21, 2007 - OAEC Exam Application Deadline: Jul 31, 2007

Jun 20, 2007 – the fifth OACE Exam will be held at Testing Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, on Sep 8, 2007 from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon

Up to December 31, 2006 – All six major insurance companies in Canada and other smaller companies had recognized OAEC Certificate holders as approved acupuncture providers in Ontario or Canada

Apr 13, 2006 – Medavie Blue Cross recognized OAEC Certificate holders as approved acupuncture providers in Ontario and Atlantic Canada

Jul 11, 2005 – Industrial Alliance Insurance & Financial Service company recognized OAEC Certificate holders as approved acupuncture providers in Ontario and Canada

Jun 27, 2005 – Manulife Insurance company ecognized OAEC Certificate holders as approved acupuncture providers in Ontario and Canada

Feb 4, 2003 – the two OACE directors was appointed to the Ontario Advisory Committee on the Regulation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (TCM/A) by the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Hon. Tony Clement

Jan 31, 2003 – Hon. Carl DeFaria, the Minister of Citizenship, the government of Ontario, issued all OAEC certificates to each successful candidates at ceremony.

Jan 11, 2003 – the fourth OACE was held at Testing Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 40 Candidates successfully passed exam.

Jan 2, 2002 – Hon. Tony Clement, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, issued all OAEC certificates to each successful candidates at ceremony.

Nov 24, 2001 – the third OACE was held at Testing Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 30 Candidates successfully passed exam.

Jun 17, 2000 – the second OACE was held at Testing Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 50 Candidates successfully passed exam

Mar, 2000 – Great West Life, Green Shield Canada and Sunlife Insurance companies recognized OAEC Certificate holders as approved acupuncture providers in Ontario and Canada

Feb 23, 2000 – Hon. Michael D. Harris, the Premier of Ontario, wrote letter to OAEC to thank participation of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in facilitating the certification of acupuncturists in Ontario.

Feb 20, 2000 – Hon. Chris Stockwell, the Minister of labour, wrote greeting letter to congratulate those who received the OAEC certificates.

Feb 18, 2000 – Hon. Elizabeth Witmer, the Minister of health and Long-Term Care wrote greeting letter to congratulate those who received the first OAEC certificates in Ontario history.

Nov 27, 1999 – the first Ontario Acupuncture Certification Examination (OACE) was held at Testing Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario.  Approximately 150 Candidates successfully passed exam.

Sep, 1999 – the first service contract signed between OAEC and ASI. ASI initiated a serious development process to establish all key parts of OACE.

Aug 17, 1999 – OAEC received the letter from Ms. Marilyn S. Wang, the Manager, Direct Payment & Regulatory Programs Policy Unit, Ministry of Health, Government of Ontario. In that letter, government recommended to contact Assessment Strategies Inc. (ASI), the one of few Canadian examination agencies.

May 20, 1999 – OAEC wrote the letter to the Minister of Health, Hon Elizabeth Witmer officially ask the special funding to establish Ontario Acupuncture Certification Examination (OACE) to protect public safety.

Aug, 1998 – Ontario Acupuncture Examination Committee (OAEC) was established as a non-for-profit organization in Ontario.
