The Ontario Acupuncture Examination Committee (OAEC) is an independent, non-profit organization established by members of the profession to promote recognized standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture in Ontario.

In the process of selecting its committee members, it was decided that professional education and training were the most important criteria but gender, ethnicity, and geographic distribution were also considered.

The committee members are full time professional acupuncturists from different associations and organizations in Ontario.

The committee members are volunteers and all monies collected by the OAEC will be used to further the promotion and development of this examination and certification program. Furthermore, this revenue will be utilized to provide various services to the certificate holder.

The OAEC is assisted by Assessment Strategies Inc., a professional testing and certification service. Assessment Strategies adheres to the highest standards, and is recognized by the government and many other medical and health professions.
